20 Years of Culinary Journey

A Story of Taste, Tradition & Togetherness

Twenty years across three kitchens. One table in Little India.

Our story began in 2005 with Amma Mess. A modest kitchen, opened with a single goal: to give people a taste of home.

Where it all started.

Amma Mess opened with a clear mission: to serve honest Madurai-styled home cooking, prepared exactly as families had for generations. No shortcuts. No compromise. Every recipe honoured its roots, every spice was carefully selected, and every dish was cooked with patience and care.

Word spread quietly through the community. People who missed the food of Madurai, Virudhunagar and the villages of Tamil Nadu finally found familiar flavours again. Traditional biryani, Virudhunagar-style Master Parotta, Fish Varuval, Pepper Chicken.

More than a restaurant, Amma Mess became a place where people felt at home.

Tradition, deepened.

As more guests discovered our food, Amma Mess evolved into Murugan Vilas. The menu expanded. The philosophy did not.

Soft Madurai-style idlis, crispy dosai, kothu parotta, meen kuzhambu, traditional South Indian meals and slow-cooked biryanis earned a loyal following across Singapore.

Customers travelled from every corner of the island for dishes they could not find anywhere else. Many still remember our Pepper Chicken, biryani and idli. Recipes that became part of countless family memories.

One restaurant. The flavours of a nation.

After more than a decade of preserving South Indian traditions, the vision grew beyond a single region.

HeritageOne brought together carefully selected recipes from across India: Chettinad, Andhra, Mangalore, Mughlai, Punjabi. Each cooked the way it was meant to be.

Opening at a rooftop space in Changi Business Park, HeritageOne offered guests a refined setting where South Indian, North Indian and regional specialities came together under one roof. This marked the beginning of HeritageOne as a brand.

Back where culture belongs.

In 2020, HeritageOne found its permanent home in the heart of Little India.

Norris Road brought us closer to the community that inspired the journey from the beginning. Decades of experience, family recipes and regional traditions came together here as Pan-Indian cooking, under one roof.

Alongside the classics, we introduced dishes guests keep coming back for: Kari Dosai, Kizhi Parotta, Prawn Ghee Roast, Meen Pollichathu, and our Seeraga Samba Mutton Biryani.

What started as a small neighbourhood mess has grown into a place where families gather, celebrations are shared and memories are made over good food.

Our Craft & Commitment

Intention in every dish.

We follow time-honoured cooking methods, using fresh ingredients and spices brought in from India for their aroma and character. Every recipe stays faithful to its regional roots, and every dish is cooked to order so its flavours develop the way they were meant to.

From Amma Mess to HeritageOne, one belief has stayed the same: every guest should be welcomed like family.
